Do you know where your organic dairy comes from?
It SHOULD come from Humboldt County. Why? Because hands-down, we are at the dairy heart of Northern California. With a history stretching back to the 1800s, our home in Ferndale was known as “Cream City” for the high-quality, rich dairy it produced. We’ve maintained that tradition for more than 85 years by partnering with a variety of local family farms, paying our organic farmers fair rates, and dedicating ourselves to taking the best care possible of our cows.
When it comes to the best organic dairy, we believe every detail matters. When it comes to crafting incredible organic dairy foods, we think it starts with the grass our cows are grazing on. Humboldt County pastures don’t grow just any grass. Our pastures exist in a coastal wonderland, where the temperate climate combines with natural silt, clay, and minerals to create a nutrient-rich soil. The grass that grows here has deep roots, literally and figuratively, which brings those nutrients up out of the soil for our grazing cows to enjoy. Naturally, those nutrients make it into the organic dairy products we produce, resulting in delicious:
- Ice cream
- And more!
Beyond the scenery, Humboldt County is an ideal environment for our dairy cows, who can enjoy one acre of space for every four cows, while they wander and graze, as cows are meant to do. Our cows prefer to stick together though. Grazing’s better when you have a buddy. They’re out to pasture as often as weather permits (and definitely meeting or exceeding organic requirements) because it keeps them at their happiest and healthiest, and the coastal climate means they don’t have to deal with drastic temperature variations. They can enjoy their heavy coats year-round. We think they like not having to worry about their wardrobe.
All of Humboldt Creamery’s organic dairy is USDA-certified organic and non-GMO verified from pasture-raised cows that are never treated with antibiotics or the artificial growth hormone rBST*. Everyone deserves real organic, so find our Humboldt Creamery package with the blue label and enjoy.
