Earth Day Desserts for Anytime

Chef Laura Kenny created some delicious earthy desserts that will please your taste buds and your wallet.

Kids love sugary sweets, but you don’t have to reach for corn-syrup laden goodies to get them what they love. Try making your own Dirt Cups with organic ingredients! They’re super simple. Start with your favorite chocolate pudding and Humboldt Creamery Organic Heavy Whipping Cream. Whip up the cream until you get a light and smooth consistency that you like, then stir together with the pudding. Find yourself some mason jars and layer the pudding-cream mixture with crumbled chocolate cookie crumbs of your choice, then layer again. Top with organic berries or organic gummy candy for a fruity burst and you’re good to go! You can try low-sugar or natural ingredients, or replace the chocolate cookies with graham crackers if you’d like.

If you’d like something that’ll cool everyone down on hot summer days, ice cream sandwiches are the way to go. Bake up some big sugar cookies and decorate them how you like — to stick with the Planet Earth theme, you can use green and blue sprinkles for oceans and continents. Pull a pint of your favorite Humboldt Creamery Organic Ice Cream out of the freezer and use a sharp knife to cut it into rounds, right in the carton, and peel away the paper for perfect ice cream sections that will fit right on your cooled cookies. Serve immediately or wrap them up to store in the freezer until you’re ready.

These are just a few of the super-quick and easy desserts you can assemble with your favorite organic dairy products. When you buy Humboldt Creamery Organic products, you’re getting fresh organic dairy from cows that graze on the best Humboldt grass! Prep these earth-themed desserts beforehand and you have ready-made treats for any BBQ, gathering, or celebration. Everyone deserves to eat affordable organic, and with these snacks, you can make it happen on a budget, while still pleasing a crowd of kids.

Whether you’re celebrating Earth Day or just want to give Mother Earth a nod, this should cover you. Do you have any other favorite Earth-inspired desserts we should try?
